How to Score - High Scoring String
This example string is to display how a "high scoring game" is scored. The intent is to display how double and triple strikes are scored. All though this is not a typical candlepin bowling string, it is very possible to score a game this high or even higher. There have been many instances of games exceeding 200. The Maine State record for the highest sting is currently held by Phil Bernatchez for the men with a 231 string and by Val Joy for the women with a 200 game.

In the 1st box:
You fell 10 pins after 3 balls
Candlepin Bowling String
In the 2nd box:
You fell all 10 pins in 2 balls scoring a spare. Your spare is worth 10 plus pins fallen from the first ball of the next box. In this case 7.
In the 3rd box:
You fell all pins with 3 balls
In the 4th box:
You fell all 10 pins with 1 ball scoring a strike. In this case you roll another strike with your first bonus ball in the 5th box and then another strike with your 2nd bonus ball in the 6th box for a total of 30 pins (10 + 10 + 10 = 30).
In the 5th box:
 You fell all 10 pins with 1 ball scoring a strike. You roll another strike with your first bonus ball in the 6th box and 6 pins with the second bonus ball in the 7th box for a total of 26
(10 + 10 + 6 = 26).
In the 6th box:
You fell all 10 pins with 1 ball scoring a strike. You add the first 2 balls of the 7th box to the strike
In the 7th box:
You scored a spare filling your strike in the 6th with a 10. Your spare is worth 10 plus pins fallen from the first ball of the next box. In this case 4.
In the 8th box:
You fell 9 pins after 3 balls
In the 9th box:
You fell all 10 pins with 1 ball scoring a strike. In this case you roll another strike with your first bonus ball in the 10th box and then 5 pins with the second bonus ball in the 10th frame.
In the 10th box:
You fell all 10 pins with 1 ball scoring a strike. To finish out the 10th box and your strike roll 2 balls and add it to your strike. In this case your scored a spare with your 2 balls.(10+10=20).
