  1. Terminology: Each tournament will host two separate winners. Handicap (APH) and Scratch (OPEN).
  2. Eligibility: Must possess a MSCBA Card. Card cost is $15.00 with 15 free games. Card makes you eligible for both Handicap and Scratch prizes.
  3. Cost: $40.00 (10 strings) $30.00 (5 strings)
    When entering an event you must declare if you are bowling APH, OPEN or BOTH. If both then you must pay an additional $17.00 at tournament site. This can not be changed once tournament has started.
      APH - OPENS: Pays 1 out of 6 entries
  4. Average will be based on 140 and 40 strings are needed for finals.

Open Eliminations 2008
Held at Bangor-Brewer Lanes,
Brewer, ME
Dates: Apr. 19, 20, 27

Classic Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Mixed Teams & Teams will be Open finals. Winners of each event will be Open State Champions if the bowler involved declared they are in fact competing in the "Open division".
40 Strings are required to qualify for the Open eliminations plus the $25 entry fee must be paid to the home lanes proprietor. The home lanes proprietor must forward this information to the MSCBA statistician before the Classic Singles in October. If a bowler misses one of the regular Classic events, the bowler may use the 2 person or 3 person team event as a make up. Low 2 5 strings or low 10 string will be dropped if the bowler bowls more than 40 strings. Tie breaker for Open All Events positions will be high 10 string total. Top 12 Open men & women will qualify.

Spring APH Finals 2008

APH FINALS ELIMINATION-
1. Costs: $20.00 must be paid at time of 1st Spring Final Event

Format: Top 4 receive bye in first round, matches before final are 5 strings. Final match is 10 strings.
 
 
All Tournament reservations must be called in by bowler's home lanes
Rules
  • All scheduled tournaments shall be administered by designated directors selected by the M.S.C.B.A. as its Tournament Director. The Tournament Director shall be the chief supervisor and representative of the M.S.C.B.A. for all sponsored tournaments.
  • These tournaments are open to any bowler who has a current membership card in the M.S.C.B.A. and must be shown upon request of the Tournament Director. Cost of the membership card is $15.00 and shall be payable upon signing up for your initial tournament.
  • The Tournament Director reserves the right to refuse any entry which does not abide by the rules and regulations stipulated by the M.S.C.B.A.
  • All bowlers must name their home lanes when buying their M.S.C.B.A. card. Bowler’s must bowl at least one Adult League in that house. You must compete on a league and complete two-thirds of the season. All Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Mixed Teams and Teams will come from the same house for the tournament season.
  • All Tournaments will be governed by the existing rules in the I.C.B.A. Rule Book. Foul line referees may be waved if automatic foul detecting devices are available and in working condition. Position of referee will be optional. Lob balls will be called.
  • PROPRIETOR’S ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL BOWLERS CALLED IN. Cancellations can be made no later than Monday prior to the scheduled event. If a cancellation has not been made by that time, the bowler owns that spot and must pay the full amount of entry fee if he/she does not show up. If the spot can be filled by the Tournament Director prior to the scheduled event, the bowler will then be relieved of the responsibility of paying for that spot. The Director shall maintain a Stand-By list.
  • Each house will allow 10 minutes of free warm up before the tournament. It is mandatory that all bowlers arrive at the site one half hour before the tournament starts.
  • Once a lane has been drawn by a bowler, there will be no changing of lanes. NOTE: Lane drawings will be held ½ hour before scheduled flight time. If a bowler is not on hand for drawing , a lane will be assigned to late bowlers.
  • LATE COMERS: Bowlers failing to show up before the Director fills in the open slots by moving bowlers around prior to starting, must forfeit their entry fee unless an opening is available on another flight. Late bowlers can not bowl once a ball has been rolled in that flight.
  • Flight scheduling will be done on a “First Come, First Serve” basis.
  • All prize money will be mailed out by the Treasurer to the winners upon verification of all scores.
  • Handicaps shall be based on 95% of 140 for men and women. Effective in the upcoming season all new bowlers handicap shall be based on the highest known league average. Computer Handicaps shall be used for all bowlers that have at least 15 strings in the previous season.
 
  • No fees will be returned after entries have been received and the flight time assigned, except in dire emergency such as fire, accident, etc.
  • If a tie occurs for any reason, the tie will be broken by the highest single and prize money will be given to the person or team with the highest single.
  • Prize money shall be distributed according to the amount of entries in each event. Prize schedules shall be posted at all tournament sites.
  • Multiple participation in any one event is prohibited. You can only bowl ONCE in any tournament.
  • Flights may be added or cancelled depending upon the number of entries at the discretion of the Tournament Director.
  • 40 tournament strings are needed to participate in the Spring APH Finals. These can be Open, APH and or Senior combined.
  • Participating bowlers on the current flight are the only ones allowed to keep score unless the Tournament Director designates a person or persons as scorekeepers.
  • SANDBAGGING: For computer information, any bowler scoring less then 80 pins of his/her average for a ten string tournament or 40 pins for a 5 string tournament will be credited for that tournament with his computer average minus the above pins.
  • A Junior bowler who participates in any events during the year will not be eligible to participate in Adult events in that same year. Any person that has reached their 17th birthday and has not participated in a Junior event during that current tournament season may enter all the M.S.C.B.A. Inc. Sponsored event as long as they qualify according to all M.S.C.B.A. Inc. Rules and regulations.
  • A new bowler entering a tournament for the first time must have at least 30 strings in a member house.
  • SPORTSMANSHIP CONDUCT: Any participant attempting to damage any bowling equipment by his/her action or conduct that is disruptive to the proper administration of any event sponsored by the M.S.C.B.A. shall receive a warning on the first offense, and a zero shall be given for that frame. If bowler commits second offense of the above, he or she shall be pulled from the event and suspended and a zero shall be given for that frame. A dummy score (Average minus ten) shall be used on all Teams for the suspended bowler. Third offense will receive a written warning and inability to bowl in the next stop. In any case where damage occurs by the results of the above to any equipment in the host lanes, full restitution must be made by the bowler for all damages. Bowlers failing to make appropriate restitution shall be suspended from bowling any M.S.C.B.A. Sponsored event until restitution is made.
